Meet the Teacher Behind LKS Music Academy in Derby
At LKS Music Academy in Derby, our goal is to help every student discover the joy of learning music in a friendly and inspiring environment. Founded by ABRSM-qualified music teacher Laura Shahi, the academy has grown from a specialist piano school into a welcoming place for students to learn piano, guitar, and singing lessons.
Each lesson is designed to build musical skill, creativity, and confidence, whether you are a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique. Lessons are available both in-person and online to suit every learner’s schedule.
My Background
I’m Laura, founder of LKS Music Academy. I am a passionate and experienced music teacher in Derby with over 15 years of experience helping students of all ages develop their skills and confidence.
My journey in music began at the National Music Gymnasium in Europe, where I spent eight years studying piano performance, music theory, and ensemble work. Performing regularly in both instrumental and vocal concerts gave me a deep understanding of how music can connect people and inspire creativity.
